In honor of her birthday, Lucrecias fansite, I Love Luci, is now online and you can find the link on Crimson Shrouds nav list. Much of it is still under construction because Ive been so, so busy lately and just didn't get to finish it all when I would have liked to, but hopefully it won't linger like that for too long.
Redemption is now up to p. 35, whoops.

Well firstly, Redemption is up to page 33 now, though I evidently neglected to note the updates as I made them. Not that I got very far in these two and a half months. In case you haven't been keeping up with my deviantART updates, I was rather busy with several other projects, including an unfinished digital painting of Vincent as a Turk and an FF7 Fan Art Project for Mother's Day and Father's Day. I didn't bother to post the project info here too because I know no one reads this shit, lulz, but it's still going on for Father's Day on June 21, so take a look if you care to participate before that date comes and goes.
Also, the products of the Mother's Day Project can be seen here: FF7 Mother's Day Fan Art Project results!
More importantly, I have relocated the physical locations of the doujinshi scans and screenshots on this website to Photobucket. It shouldn't affect viewing of the website in any way since I simply replaced the local image URLs with ones that hotlink to the images on Photobucket, which I'm fairly sure Photobucket is fine with since everyone in the world does that anyway. Or they're not and my images will break. We'll see. Anyway, it's a minor inconvenience, but it took my total consumed webspace down from reaching my 50MB limit to 33.4MB, which is almost exactly 66% of what it was before. And that will allow me to ensure that other images on this site don't break due to me exceeding my webspace limit without having to shell out the cash for moar webspace. Besides, I'm on a yearly plan and just paid for the next year like a week ago.
Right now, the only images that I've moved over to Photobucket are my doujinshi scans/scanlations and the small collection of FF7 screen shots that I have on this site. I will try to avoid putting other people's fan art on Photobucket because I know Photobucket galleries are easily accessed and for some reason people tend to feel a sense of entitlement to what they find on Photobucket. So the fan art images that other people have entrusted to me will remain hosted on ravens-haven.8m.com for as long as I can help it. If I need to make another move, it will be my own artwork first, and the artwork of others only as a last resort. But I don't think it should come to that.
Oh, and one thing that might actually affect anyone's links is that I changed the filename of the page that those doujinshi scans can be found on. It was previously called "scans.html" which was carried over from old incarnations of my website, but the folder I used to store the images found on "scans.html" was called "douj" for doujinshi. So I changed "scans.html" to "douj.html." Shouldn't affect anyone unless you've bookmarked or linked directly to that page, but as that isn't a natural action with a framed website, it's doubtful that's the case for anyone.
All these changes, by the way, are in anticipation of the long-overdue publishing of Lucrecia's branch of Crimson Shroud, I Love Luci. :D I've been planning it forever but never got around to actually getting it done. Well, I'm going to get my ass in gear and make it happen July 22. And if you know why I've chosen July 22, cookies for you! (Knowing when this site was published would be a good hint, and that information is on the main page.)
I'll accept fan art for Lucrecia's site now if you have any you'd like to share. :> Please direct them to lucreciavalntine[at]aol[dot]com, and title the e-mail "Lucrecia fan art."

I have been super slacking on the updates, mostly because I never get around to writing about it here. So let me just gloss over the new stuff real quick.
- Redemption has three new pages up (19, 20, 21). I got ambitious.
- Here's a sample of how the FF7 Voice project is coming along: FF7Voice Demo #1! The barrage of negative comments didn't go unnoticed, so I'm sure subsequent scenes will be better. I'm not terribly fond of Barret's voice, myself, and the fact that the same voice actor is slated for Vincent leaves me, well, just crossing my fingers. Can't wait to get slammed with those tomatoes myself! Tifa debuts in Scene 2.
And some more things I noticed in Vincent's hotel room in DoC:
- At the bottom of Reeve's text message it says "Received 5/400"Vincent has 4 other text messages in there!
- There's a well used candlestick on his night stand. Whether it was used by Vincent or the room's previous occupants we'll never know.

New art! :D What They Can't Take Away can now be found in the artwork gallery, and a version with the title-inspiring text can be found on my deviantART account.
I also have several articles of interesting news that I've been failing to keep you apprised of. D:
The first is that TheLifestream.net, of which I am a part, got forums last month. Of particular interest to my fellow Vincent followers are the fanclub threads, ChaosBringers, Reborn! and Innocent Sin v2.0, a Vincent x Lucrecia fanclub.
Well, wait, let me back up and introduce TLS, lawl. It's pretty much going to be your new source for all FF7 related news and information, created by a lot of the folks that kept AdventChildren.net informed and running.
Among that information, and my second bit of news, are Souya's Dirge of Cerberus translations. :D If you're not familiar with them, then you're probably living under a rock or just not a very good Vincent fan. Souya's translations are pretty much the 'net-recognized key to understanding the Japanese version of the game at all. Chances are, if you've read any excerpt of the Japanese script translated into English, it was done by Souya. Well, unfortunately when AC.net fell into the abyss, so did the availability of the translations. I, however, have undertaken the task and the permission to get them back online on TLS, which will be happening over the next few weeks. :D
And the final bit of information which I have to share is the impending project by the Overclocked Remix crew (who are responsible for the "OC Remix" songs) to make a patch for the PC version of FF7 to add voice overs to the original game! :D I'm also involved in this, because I'm a whore like that. Somehow I landed the part of Tifa.
I should also inform you of Redemption's current...situation. About two weeks ago, a horrible virus attacked my computer and necessitated a hard drive reformat that I had little time to prepare for. While I did attempt to save all my files, there were many things that I forgot (such as all my fonts), and the memory cards that I stored the information that I did remember were corrupted. All my notes and files on Redemption were on those cards. =|
Because I had it online anyway, I was able to just download the flat JPGs and PNGs from this website and deviantART, but I lost all the layered PSD files, all the fonts and brushes I'd been using, the scripts of scenes ahead that I'd already planned out, notes on where the story is going and ideas of where it could go, etc. I also lost the half completed page 19, and a rather large collection of FF7 Compilation concept artwork that I used as references.
Oh, and more relavent to this website, all my bookmarks of good places for a Vincent fan to go to on the web. ><
A complete list of what was lost and what was salvaged can be found here:
Updated Casualty List (post-virus)
So, I am pressing on with Redemption, of course, but I don't know if I will be able to remember enough to write it as well as it could have been the first time. I've also been experimenting with possibly novelizing it, as some of the scenes that I've taken notes on again I wrote out in such a manner. But, if I do that, it would come after the doujinshi itself.
Lastly, I leave you with the strong recommendation to read this fanfic:

| Topic: Nightmere & Samayoi; The Reflections of Refections | Date: December 28, 2008 |
| So I bet you're wondering what happened to my promise of doujinshi scans made two and a half months ago! (Humor me; God knows I do.)
Well, my only excuse is that I kind of lost the will, or at least the sense of urgency, after I realized that someone else already had them scanned beautifully. I suppose I'll have to scan them eventually so I can get them on this website...or just beg her for permission and spare the spines of my copies.
Anyway, until I can bother to do that, here are the scans I found: Another scanned ff7 doujinshi~
In other news, I finally FINISHED MY FANFIC(!!!), The Reflections of Refections. Please go read it. It's a one-shot, so it won't take long.
I've also put it up on FanFiction.Net, so if you have an account, you can feel free to review me there ^_^ The Reflections of Refections, a Final Fantasy VII Fanfic
There's a new little doodle titled Goodbye Yuffentine in the fan art gallery, which you might recognize from Redemption, page 18, and I also finished Lucrecia sitting so that's been updated as well.
And lastly, Redemption has two new pages up, so go check that out too! |

And happy birthday, crimson shroud! With the counter at 3295 (as opposed to last year's 2000ish) we had barely over half as many visitors in our second year as our first, but I do hold out hope that I'm talking to someone other than myself out there.

Don't forget about the Vincent Valentine Birthday Contest going on until the 13th! |
| | I'm slacking again. D: I should have posted this two days ago, or at least yesterday. Because that's when I officially kicked off the Vincent Day Contest previously mentioned! Of course, since I gave anyone checking this page an extra week and a half's notice, you were already prepared anyway and just waiting for the rules, right?
Exactly what does one create to celebrate the birthday of a fictional character?
Fan art! Fan fiction! Fan music videos! Plushies, keychains, jewelry, cakes, webpages, anything. Yes, I'm being very liberal with what I will accept, not only because I wish to encourage creativity, but because this is honestly not an idea that is new with me.
I have been among the Vincent fan community since at least 2000 and have fond memories of marvelling over the tributes fans would produce to celebrate that mid-October pseudo-holiday, especially in the earlier years of FF7 fandom. It was a holiday that celebrated our odd mutual hobby/fanaticism, and so it was more than simply an arbitrary day chosen from the calendar solely to characterize Vincent as a Libra while simultaneously reminding us of Halloween (and thus his spooky side) by inverting the date's numerals; it was a reason to give back to one another by putting work into the creation of something for other fans to enjoy, and to celebrate, honor, and thank what it was that brought us together in the first place: an unhealthy yet unified obsession for Vincent Valentine.
I haven't seen as much of it in recent years, perhaps because I am looking in the wrong places, and because old Vincent-centric haunts (such as the Silence webring or the I Know What Lies Beneath the Snow Fields forums [brownie points if you actually know/remember these things!]) no longer exist. But I think the post-DoC era is a good time to bring it back. In 2006 and 2007 I also made my own valiantif lonelyefforts, but this year I know more nutjobs that I can pull into the madness with me. :D
I digress! :O
I just want to see something new (i.e., created for this contest/this year's "Vincent Day")something created by you that makes a fitting tribute to Vincent Valentine for his birthday.
I am holding this contest both here and on deviantART, so if you happen to have a deviantART account, you may find it easier(/more beneficial to your page views and whatnot) to participate via DA by submitting your entry as a deviation (assuming it meets the qualifications of some DA category) and noting me about its existance for the contest. My deviantART name is RavynneNevyrmore and the contest rules can be found in my journal as well.
If you don't have an account with deviantART (or do but just don't use it), you can still participate! Just send contest entries to LucreciaValntine@aol.com, preferably with a subject line like "Vincent Contest" or somesuch. (Please remember that "(no subject)" e-mails are sketchy, as are "hi" and "your website". D: )
But what do I win?
All entries will be featured here and shown much love, and also on my deviantART page where your splendor will be proudly displayed to anyone that happens to come looking for my shit. Should more than three people actually participate, the first, second, and third place winners will be able to choose from one of the following prizes:
- a Vincent-themed layout design for your webpage, DA journal, blog, whatever. - a commission done by me featuring Vincent and yourself, your OC, Don Corneo, whatever. - a three month deviantART subscription!
Well, technically the first and second place winners will get to choose (respectively), and the third place winner will be stuck with whatever they leave behind. =) (So hopefully #3 will be a DA member if #1 and #2 both pass on the 3 month sub. If you're not, we'll see what we can work out.)
Who is judging this shit storm?
That would be me, myself, and my Vincent plushie I.
You're really only giving us a freaking week?
Yup! But if you've been paying attention, you had a heads-up in the last week of September. The deadline is midnight October 13, 2008 (that's one minute after 11:59pm October 12, for the chronologically challenged) Eastern Daylight Time. Or Standard or whatever the hell we're in. Of course, I'll likely be asleep at midnight and have to work the morning shift on October 13, so I won't be a stickler about the timestamp. It should be ready for his birthday, though! Not after it! D:<
I'm too tired to wrap this up with some nice closing statements. Have fun and direct any questions/flames/etc. to my e-mail (again, without subject lines like "hi" or "your website" please).
Rules and info can also be found in my deviantART journal. |
| | Though I haven't yet decided how Crimson Shroud and I will be celebrating Vincent's birthday this year, don't forget that it's is less than a month away! It's always been a tradition among the Vincent fan community to compose a birthday tribute to our favorite little vampire-wannabe on October 13, and I may hold a contest for the best one. Details on that will come soon if it does happen, but even if it doesn't, you don't want to be caught buying him a $2 card at the last minute, now do you?! Of course not! So get started on that gift!
"Now what on Earth do I get a fictional character for his 10th/67th/62nd birthday? Wait, how do we even know his age?!" you ask. Well, fan art is always a good choice, or fanfiction if you're handier with a pen than a pencil. There's also AMVs (amateur music videos) if you know your way around some video editing software. In 2007 I only tributed the small gift of removing Redemption from its hiatus status, but in 2006 I launched this website and baked a cake. |

| Topic: Vincent & red wine | Date: July 8, 2008 |
| I think most hardcore (read:obsessive) Vincent fans would remember and have taken note of this moment in the opening of Dirge of Cerberus:

more specifically, the wine glass sitting next to his cell phone that gives us a hint as to what Vincent likes to drink. "Vincent is a vampire" believers would probably love to tell you that it's blood in his glass, and while I don't think that he is a vampire, I do think they placed an ambiguous red drink in this scene as a nod to either that theory itself or his "vampiric" thematic origins. For all we know it could be fruit punch or a very reddish colored tea, but logic would assume that, since it is in a wine glass, he is drinking red wine. A year and a half after Dirge of Cerberus's US release, however, this alone is no longer something which I would consider interesting enough for an update.
What has just come to my attention while browsing some of the game's concept art is the contents of a very notable picnic basket:

This is the lunch Lucrecia brought to him under the tree (thus her silhouette on the right), and you'll notice a bottle of red wine sticking out of the left side! =) Although I can't read the Japanese notes on the items, it's obviously a bottle of some corked drink, and the label reads "W I" and part of what could be an "N." It may or may not also be worth noting that the wrapper is still on the cork, so it is a new bottle that has never been opened before. Well that was awfully sweet of Lucrecia, wasn't it?
Two other rather sweet things can be inferred from this: Either Vincent was already a fan of red wine and Lucrecia knew this when she brought him a brand new bottle to share, or he may have become a fan of red wine because it reminds him of that picnic. |
| Topic: Updates and deviantART | Date: June 23, 2008 |
| Oh goodness I've been slacking on updating this to an extreme. Should you ever feel a keen desire to read my current art-related issues, though, I'd suggest checking my deviantART page, since I've taken my non-Crimson Shroud issues there as of late. Of course, even then, I am not the type to blog about my daily ups and downsjust the ones related to my art, websites, etc. But if you use deviantART as well and have some FF7 fan art, feel free to drop me a note or a page comment or whatever and poke me to check out your gallery. =) I always love finding more Vincent and/or Lucrecia fan art, and all those other characters are cool too. =P
Anywho, this entry comes with an actual update! :D Nina Miles has sent me some lovely pieces, and I have also finished one of my own recently. All three can be found in the artwork gallery! Gogogo.
And speaking of deviantART, if you don't positively abhor it (as I used to before it SUCKED ME IN), I'd recommend checking out the gallery of one very talented Shonna White (~sraointe), whose gorgeous fan arts of Vincent, Sephiroth, and Zack will make you drool. Yes, even if you're a guy. They'll turn you gay. You'll be like lolwtfwomenwut? Visit her first; thank me second.

| Topic: New Poem! | Date: March 31, 2008 |
| Thanks to my dear poetic int0rwebz buddy Mantichorus, there's now a new poem up in Fanfiction!
OH, and I found an interview with Tetsuya Nomura that came after DoC in which he discusses soooo many of those little things we've been dying to know about Vincent for SUCH a long timehowever, it's in Japanese. A friend of mine was kind enough to translate it, but since I'm pressed for time at the moment I'll have to post it tomorrow.
He touches upon Vincent's mother and early childhood, reveals his middle name, and has a very surprising answer when questioned on that oh so very juicy topic that we fans love to stir upwere we meant to wonder about the Hojo vs. Vincent paternity issue?
My wonderful, wonderful translator will be sending the translation to me some time later today as she's just finishing up the minor touches. I've had a glimpse and omg I am so excited to read the whole thing like I am going to fall off my chair right now.
Tomorrow! |
| Topic: Spring Cleaning, Cont'd | Date: March 28, 2008 |
| I've added links to a few more excellent websites that I've used as resources to help compile the information featured on this site and yet to be featured. Yes, I'm still working on revising a few pages that I can't post just yet because they're kinda all over the place at this point. ^_^; Hopefully within the week or so I can finally say Crimson Shroud is actually done when I finally finish writing that darn pesky biography on The Man. (Hmm? Biographies can only be written on real people? What do you mean, "Vincent's not real?" o.O You're so obviously full of it.)
I've also been playing Crisis Core like a madwoman and may even replay it to write a FAQ on the English game script when I'm done if no one gets around to it first, so other activities, such as drawing, updating this site, eating, showering, blinking, etc. shall be scarce until I'm done drinking in the wonderfulness that is Crisis Core.
The other major update that should be arriving in the next few days is the addition of Victoria Valentine's second doujinshi, Wasurenai! ^_^ She used to go by "Sir Yaberdoodle" and was the author of not only the majority of hilarity featured in Dirge of Cerberus / Advent Children Parody Videos [though most links are now broken and I intend to diligently prod her into putting them back up =( ], but also the other doujin currently next to my own in Fanfiction , Sweet Smile.
I thought Sweet Smile was great already, and she's improved in leaps and bounds since drawing that one. Victoria's evolved into a very professional-looking manga-ka and I can't wait to get Wasurenai up here. ^_^
If you share my appreciation for her work, I'd recommend visiting her deviantART page at ~VictoriaValentine, where Wasurenai can already be found. (I'm waiting to get the versions without DA watermarks.) [plug category=shameless ego=7 desperate=true]While you're at it, feel free to visit my own deviantART page at ~RavynneNevyrmore![/plug] |

The Links page has undergone some minor spring cleaning and a few additions have been made. In particular, I would recommend visiting even in distance for a good read on all aspects of the relationship between Vincent and Lucrecia, because I am so in love with that site.
My own plans for a Lucrecia mini-site are still underway, although somewhat on hold for the time being as Redemption, spring cleaning on this site, and soon Crisis Core(!) are/will be stealing my attention. But after those things are seen to, it remains next on my current priority list.
Meanwhile, please enjoy even in distance and Victoria Valentine's (formerly SirYaberdoodle) new/upcoming doujin Wasurenai with my sincerest recommendations! ^_^ |

| Topic: Compilation Ultimania updates, part I | Date: February 29, 2008 |
| Well, I've begun the tedious undertaking of revising the info on this site to make sure it jives with recently released information, starting from the top of the list of shrine sections. So if something listed in Vincent's "Basic Info" contradicts with something said in "Fact vs. Fanfiction," forgive me. Also, I'd take the latter page with a grain of salt until I can really give it a good spring cleaning. Mainly, I'm referring to the Compilation Ultimania confirming that Vincent proposed to Lucrecia and that Lucrecia and Hojo were married. Both of those tidbits threw me for a loop, so naturally all my previous logic guaranteed that neithe ever happened.
Shows how much I know, I guess. >.>
When Lucrecia asked Vincent to dance, was it Sadie Hawkins day? xD |
| Topic: web frustration | Date: January 20, 2008 |
| I have absolutely no idea why my counter has suddenly decided to use the number images from my old Raven's Haven counter instead of my Crimson Shrine theme counter. I never changed the code, I never changed the files. I've since tried re-uploading, making sure that the code points to the images in Crimson Shroud's counter directory rather than Raven's Haven's, replacing the RH images with the CS ones, reloading, totally deleting the old RH images, uploading the CS ones in their place, and I am still personally seeing the white Avaren font numbers with the black background instead of the red ones with the line through them.
Maybe it's a cookie issue unique to my computer only. I've no clue. But if you see this error too, I no longer give a crap. -_-; I give up. |
| Topic: Why Me, the alleged love story for manic depressives | Date: January 14, 2008 |
| Oh my holy What's this?? An update?
If you're surprised (and I doubt that you actually are, but humor me), then Mr. Dust Traveller must be in catatonic shock that I finally got my ass around to posting the story that I asked him permission for about two months ago. Said story is Why Me?, a Vincent & Yuffie love story that's been in the works for over four years now (and I thought I worked slow ^_~ ), and is so hilarious and excellently written that even the non-Yuffentiners such as myself will thoroughly enjoy the read.
Go read two chapters and tell me if you aren't addicted. =)
I also have another project in the works, one which I have so originally titled I Love Luci. This is something I have been wanting to add to Crimson Shroud for quite a while now, first as simply a brief discussion of Vincent's love for Lucrecia, how it affects his character, etc. But with Lucrecia's character having become an entity slightly more removed from Vincent's character since Dirge of Cerberus, I thought the good doctor deserved a spotlight a bit more...hers. So, instead of a simple, single-page overview of Lucrecia through the lens of what she means to Vincent, I'll be creating a mini-site dedicated to all of her information, and not only the relationship between her and Vincent, but her relationships with other characters in the compilation (such as Hojo, Gast, Grimoire, Sephiroth), and some focus on just her as an individual.
I have a layout already designed, but as I'm an incorrigibly habitual multi-tasker and procrastinator, I estimate this will take me at least a few months to even get around to gathering and analyzing all this information, let alone run it by others for discussion. And where and with whom do I typically discuss Lucrecia, you ask (and I doubt you actually did, but humor me)? Eternal Prisoner - a Lucrecia Crescent Fan Club ^_^ It's been rather spammy and otherwise quiet as of late, but if anyone wishes to bring a more serious mindset or discussion to the table I'd be absolutely overjoyed to have something good for my mind to chew on. |

| Someone sent me some more reasons why she knows she's obsessed with Vincent Valentine, and page 9 of Redemption has been silently added a few days ago as well, but othe rthan that there's not much going on.
Yesterday was my mother's birthday, today is Thanksgiving, and tomorrow is "Black Friday" in the retail world. Consequentially, I will be waking up at 4 A.M. tomorrow morning and working 11 straight hours convincing Christmas shoppers to buy body lotions and perfume on little to no sleep before coming home and collapsing. And then I have to work early again the next day, and I also have another one-shot comic panel in mind which I may complete before Redemption's 10th page, but hopefully I'll have it done before my birthday on the 5th. =) And then there will be some hardcore Christmas shopping to deal with...
So if you don't manage to hear from me before next year, check my deviantART page to see if anything new is there instead. |

| Oh, good news! I found my notebook! =) Which was actually a folder. So that may help explain why I couldn't find it. But the next page of Redemption (which is actually 8 and not 7 like I have been labelling it) is up!
omg look here! it's right here! click this and look! yay!
HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY, VINCENT. =( |

| | Well, anyone who cares enough may have noticed that I failed to get that page out by Vincent's birthday. This is partially due to my never-failing inability to meet deadlines, and partially due to the fact that I can't find the notebook in which I've outlined the next few pages. >.> And I hesitate to "wing it" because I had more of the entire story in mind when I wrote it the first time than I do now and don't want to cause continuity issues. Unfotunately, my apartment is a mess because my boyfriend and I are moving back up to Boston at the end of this month and I can't find a damn thing around here at the moment. =( So the current ETA on the next part of Redemption is "soon." |
| Topic: T minus three days... | Date: October 10, 2007 |
| It's three days until Vincent Day (a national holiday in Ravynne-land), and I've finally decided what to do in celebration of the Crimson One's birthday. I wanted to really work on some beautiful piece of artwork, but I just couldn't come up with anything I felt strongly enough about to spend that much time on. So, instead of tributing one drawing to Vincent on his special day, I'm going to go back to work on Redemption (my post-DoC webcomic doujinshi!). =)
I've been taking a little break from it trying to iron out some wrinkles to extra-smoothness, but admittedly I haven't been at the ironing board all that much. Instead I've been working on my original manga, Awaken. While I do have the next few pages for that one nearly done and planned to knock out a few more pages of that before going back to Redemption, I'm going to switch my focus back to Redemption now because, after all, it's Vincent's birthday and not Riley's! |
| Topic: I'm back! | Date: August 26, 2007 |
| So I'll choose not to explain that giant gap in dates. I've been busy and otherwise occupied. =)
In more recent and relevent news, I've been working on creating a forum for Vincent discussion. Unfortunately, while ezBoard is probably the easiest type of forum to work with, they seem to require $30 a month to maintain. I can't afford that right now, so I'll be looking into phpbb, which offers much more customization and which my boyfriend is currently using for our WoW guild's website.
Speaking of Warcraft, I've been quite intrigued lately by the lore of one of the series' favorite villains, Illidan Stormrage. I see a lot of similarities between his story and Vincent's, which I may analyze for this site at a later time, and perhaps also include a certain dark character from Harry Potter who those who have finished the seventh book should be able to guess at! And for those who haven't, I won't say any more. =) I am glad, however, that my favorite HP character recieved such beautiful vindication at the end. |
| Topic: doujinshi touch-ups | Date: February 13, 2007 |
| 13 more days until the move! But I got some free time today *coughwowserversweredownformaintanencecough* so I finally got around to solving some of my doujinshi image problems, which weren't related to code/browser issues at all, but to yours truly being a dumbass as a webmistress. I gave some files the wrong names and links weren't pointing to them properly. See, Satan Impact has 8 sorta preface pages and then 13 pages of actual story, so there are 8 pages of artwork before and after "page 1" (etc.) of the story. This presented me with all kinds of organization issues which ended up with my SI image files being numbered differently than my SI html files and confusion on my end. It's been solved by taking the prefaces out of the ordinal count and numbering them separately from the story pages.
But I doubt you really care about that.
Anyway, the doujinshi gallery should just be more cooperative in general, as I also made some minor formatting changes to the "slide" pages that the stories are viewed on. Please let me know if you find any broken links or images, either by dropping me an e-mail or giving a heads up in my guestbook! I read each about as frequently as the other, but obviously one is private and one is public, so it's up to you how you'd like to reach me. I don't care which you use.
Since the doujinshi problem ended up just being n00b coding, I haven't touched the general image problem yet. All the images on my site that have the full version linked to by a thumbnail (except for the doujinshi story pages) appear as a popup that should be fitted to the image size, centered on your monitor, and exclude scrolling or navigation bars. I suspect that popup filters may interfere with this, but I know very little about JavaScript and the code I used was a public code and not written by me. In fact I only understand enough about the code to make it work for my images. The good news, however, is that this website is funded by own wallet and features no advertisementspopup or otherwiseso you can feel safe and free to turn off your popup filters until you navigate away from Crimson Shroud or Raven's Haven. Clicking the thumbnails two or three times often works for me on MSN's IE as well. |

| Well so much for "a lot more quickly," but I've had a LOT going on lately. And I will be moving next month. From Boston to Atlanta. To live with my boyfriend. So things will be quite busy for a while, but I am still keeping up with my art! =) In fact, when I get there, he wants me to work on it even more. =D
I also have some fan art pieces in the works, including two of Vincent & Lucrecia, one of Yuffie, and possibly one of Jote and Mjrn from FF12. |
| Topic: Redemption~ | Date: December 19, 2006 |
| I finished page 3 of Redemption. I'm so proud of myself! =D Are you proud of me too?! Better yet, I'm working on page 4 already! I really hope I can continue chrurning out pages a lot more quickly than I have been, but I don't foresee my life slowing down from the holidays until mid January.
At least with 3 pages up now it's somewhat of a story forming rather than a few almost disjointed pictures and some words. By the time I get page 5 up we'll have a full scene to look at, heh.
Redemption is my fanfic-manga, so it's located with the fan fiction. =)
And here's a little scribble I did yesterday for some quick laughs from ACF's Vincent fan club:

It's called cantsleepfangirlswilleatmeorkidnapmetiemeupandmakemesuccumbtotheir- disturbingbondagefantasiesomghelpmelucreciadontletthemgetme. Yep. |
| Topic: But I already know I'm obsessed!! | Date: December 5, 2006 |
| Myoubi_traeh sent me a new item for the obsession list. What a freak. Okay, just kidding. =D
I found a place to download DoC videos today!! Blue Laguna - Dirge of Cerberus FMVs & Cutscene Movies. Thanks bunches to ExMachina from the ACF for pointing my noob ass in the right direction. =D Now that I have some material to work with, I hope to start working on an AMV idea I've had for a while with Long Way Down by the Goo Goo Dolls. Here are the lyrics, if you're interested.
Oh, and one other thing:
TODAY IS MY BIRTHDAY Z0MG!!11!11 Gifts of fan art, money, precious jewels, and souls much appreciated. How many candles on the cake, you ask? 22! Except instead of a cake my mom made cinnamon rolls for breakfast (no candles) while I was getting ready for work and we had a luxurious dinner of Chinese take-out. But I did treat myself to a gingerbread latte (3 sugars, no whipped cream) from Dunkin' Donuts, which I must say is quite good. =o
While sipping on my latte and enjoying my gourmet lunch (Wendy's Spicy Chicken Fillet sandwich) I started working on a drawing of Yuffie that I've had in my head for a few days. When I'm done, it will serve as another cover/splash page for Redemption. =) And I am working on page 3, with all the chaos the month of November brought to me resolved and done with. (I could have sworn I made a previous post here explaining why I hadn't updated for a month, but perhaps I goofed and wrote over it. Whoops. Well, issues arose IRL and I took a break from my creative works.)
However, while much more joyously, I expect December will keep me quite busy and may not allow me as much time to work on my fanfictions and artwork as I'd like to either. Although the Christmas season usually does inspire my creativity to run on overdrive, I have a holiday job as a Bath & Body Works salesgirl right smack in the middle of downtown Boston. On the plus side, the shifts are very short, and it's fun. =)
Oh, and now I know I must have erased an entry here because I'm positive I mentioned the manga I'm currently reading, Cantarella by You Higuri. It's good stuff! If you like Vincent (and I know you do, because if you didn't you'd already have been like "dude wtf is she on" and navigated away from this site), then you'd probably also love Cantarella's main character, Cesare Borgia. If the name sounds familiar to you, particularly if you've ever studied Italian history, that's because the tale is a fictional account of the life of an actual man who lived and had some political dealings in Italy during the Rennaissance. Except in Cantarella the illigitimate son of Catholic Cardinal Rodrigo Borgia is very much tied with demons and dark power. This is why he reminds me of Vincent: Both are otherwise innocent and well-meaning men who have been forced into some demonic state. And coincidentally enough, one of the precious few people in the world who love Cesare and who Cesare loves is his younger sister Lucrezia! (The historical Cesare Borgia actually did have a younger sister named Lucrezia Borgia.)
So anyway, if you're looking for a new manga to pick up, I'd recommend Cantarella. =) |

| Inspiration struck. I made a new DoC V&L desktop wallpaper, gothier than the last. I'm quite proud. =D I've wanted to use black and red with gold accents in a Vincent-related thing for a while now, because it has such a "dark holy" feel to it. And because it's what he wears, of course. =o
Oh yeah, it's located with the downloads. Last one, on the bottom. |
| Topic: Lucrecia's birthday revealed! | Date: November 9, 2006 |
| So there I was playing DoC on my Ex. Hard Mode game yesterday, and I came to the scene where Vincent wakes up in the WRO Headquarters and Shalua shares some information she knows about Lucrecia's professional files. While talking to Vincent about this, she pulls up Lucrecia's Shinra file on her computer. I'm not the only one who's tried to make sense of what it says on that blurry little profile other than "Name: LUCRECIA CRESCENT" and "Gender: FEMALE." As I was giving it a halfhearted scan I thought the letter A caught my eye on the line above "FEMALE" and I tried to make out something familiar from the label of that line to see if it said "Blood Type" or "Class Type." (Shalua describes Lucrecia as a "General Class A Scientist specializing in biotechnology," but I would love to know her bloodtype for other reasons involving Sephiroth.)
I'm still not sure about that line, but while I was trying to find some familiarity in the blurry figures, it hit me what the line above that one said:
Date of Birth 7 / 22
Her birthday! It's July 22! ^_^ Now while this doesn't have the benefit of bringing us any closer to discerning Sephiroth's father, it does place her as a Cancer and tells us many other things about her personality. Plus we no longer need to guess and make stuff up for fanfics. =D
I'll be doing some research into how her newly discovered astrological sign fits into her character and personality for a new section I'm working on for Vincent's shrine that gives Lucrecia a little spotlight. But from what I've looked up so far, it seems to be a great deal. ^_^ Even her clothing might have to do with her being a Cancer, and we can get an idea of how a relationship between Lucrecia and Vincent may have gone by the compatability of Cancers and Libras.
Unfortunately, I can't provide any screenshots to point out to you what I saw. The videos on YouTube are too small and attempting to take a picture of my television screen, with pixels and moire, depicting a monitor screen, with simulated pixels and moire, displaying out of focus text... Well, I tried, but it wouldn't have illuminated very much at all. If you view that screen on your television screen yourself, however, with your new idea of what that line possibly says, I think you might agree with me that it says "Date of Birth" and "7 / 22" =D
Squee! ^_^ |

| If you've wondered why updating has been so sparse lately it's because I've been working on that VinXLuc lemony one-shot fic I started last week, The Reflections of Refection. No, I'm STILL not done -_-; but I've written to another point that seems like a good place to leave off, so I added more to the end of what's up there so far, before the "to be continued." Yep, my one-shot has become a three-shot... Anyway, go read it. xD It's STILL safe for all ages thus far...but that will change in the next installment...oh yes...muahaha...
Here's an anchored link if you already read the first installment and forget where you left off. This is where the newly added part begins. |
| Topic: Lost Episode!!! | Date: November 7, 2006 |
| ZoMg!!!11!!1 The cellphone game, Dirge of Cerberus: Lost Episode, is now out and the script has been novelized and posted on Advent Children.net. ^_^ Apparently, the only cellphones that are compatable with this game are very expensive and from what I've read it seems difficult to obtain the proper technology in the US. Moreover, I have zero use for cellphones so I will most assuredly never be playing this game myself unless some type of computer emulator is made for it, which is a shame because there are some pivotal new Vincrecia scenes in it and I would love to have the screen shots! I only hope that someday someone records a video of the gameplay or those specific flashbacks so I can watch these scenes myself.
Anywho, someone who was willing to purchase such a cellphone and the game just to allow the less fortunate of us to experience this part of the story also has done so, and I suggest that as you read his novelization you keep in mind just how generous this was of him to put his own money and labor into bringing DoC's Lost Episode to the rest of the community, even if you are unable to thank him personally.
Lost Episode is about 3-4 hours worth of gameplay which covers Vincent's journey from the WRO Headquarters in Edge to Shinra Manor in Nibelheim on the other continent, by way of helicopter and boat. Rosso is the Tsviet he most often encounters during this time, while Nero keeps an eye on him as well. Lost Episode also features new flashbacks of Lucrecia and the young Vincent which shed much more light on the nature of their relationship! So go click that link and read it. =D |

| Topic: New Fanfiction! | Date: October 24, 2006 |
| So there I was yesterday, closing out aaaaaall my e-mail, website, and forum windows in absolute determination to get to work on Page 2 of Redemption (my Vincent & Lucrecia webcomicmangadoujinshifanficthing), when lo and behold I had opened up Word and began writing hentai instead. Okay, so it isn't hentai yet, because I can't finish anything in one sitting despite my best efforts. I did stay up until 3 AM trying, to my credit, but alas my so-called "one-shot" is a "To Be Continued."
The Reflections of Refection a VinXLuc "one-shot" that eventually will, though does not yet, contain mature content. Ever since I read Lady Sanzienne's SephXAeris Enantiomerias the other day I've been tempted to write "an equally poignant piece on the complicated relationship between Vincent and Lucrecia, filled with sexual tension and general romantic angst, and likely ending in a...release of said sexual tensiontastefully." (As quoted from my author's notes attached to the fic.) So, hey, surely my first attempt at fanfiction in seven years is important enough to put my doujinfic on hold for, right?!
Please read it. There's no questionable content yetyou'll be warned when there is. Questions, comments, flames appreciated. Reader is hereby warned that DoC spoilers are hinted at in the fic. |

Gazing Over Edge at Sunset
It's going to serve as a page in Redemption but I wanted a color version too, so that's why I haven't gotten a second page done yet. No more skipping ahead! Page 2 will come next. ^_^; But I'm also working on a new layout for my art site so have patience with me. |
| Topic: Blasphemy o.o | Date: October 21, 2006 |
| 'Tis true, I have blasphemed. You'll now find a link to Perfect Number, a Hojo fan site in my links. ::ducks oncoming rotten vegeatables:: It doesn't have an entirely pro-Vincent tone, but if you can stand witnessing our favorite ex-Turk being made fun of, it does include some comedy at his expense. I'd particularly recommend The Sarcastic Vincent and Hojo Story located in Perfect Number's fanfiction, and, for some Lucrecia love, Confessions of a Madman in "Etc." (Poetry).
I would also like to state that I am officially awed at the webmistress's ability to obtain the url "www.hojo.org" How the hell...
Anyway.
I modified the background graphic slightly, if you didn't notice, by adding that faint katakana on the right. In case you're wondering, it says Vincent's name. In fact, it comes directly from the speech balloon on page 6 of Satan Impact. I think it adds a nice touch but I debated about where I should position it. Originally it was going to go on the left but that got in the way of the navigation. Let me know if you find it too distracting or something.
I read this beautiful piece of fanfiction today: Enantiomerias, by Lady Sanzennine. Oh my. If it had anything to do with Vincent whatsoever I'd hunt her down and ask if I could put it with my collection here in a heartbeat, but alas it's SephXAeris. A "mature" read, but tastefully so. An interesting take on the pairing alsoI wish the game events allowed me to pretend it actually could have happened. ^_^
Lastly, hurrah for getting out of the 2-digit range on my counter again. ^_^ 100 hits in a week...I know they couldn't have all been me, so I guess that meansgaspother people look at my website!! I'm so happy I could draw fan art. But I'm tired, so enjoy this stick figure:

| Topic: issues with ebil Firefox ><; | Date: October 18, 2006 |
| It seems some people may be having trouble viewing my doujinshi. =\ I suspect it may be a Firefox problem. If you use Firefox and you're having a problem with linked images not showing for you, PLEASE let me know either by e-mailing me or leaving a comment in my guestbook if e-mail scares you or something. For that matter, if you're using a different browser and have this problem, lemme know too? I do want people to be able to see the images I went through the trouble of collecting. =)
Also, dipshit (i.e., me) skipped a page while scanning. Not sure how I managed that, but I'll fix it ASAP, which, unfortunately, may not be today. It's between pages 10 and 11. Sephy comments on Vincent drawing his gun and then mocks him, then Vincent wakes up.
And I realize the doujin gallery contains a lot of images and takes quite a while to load, so I may re-save all those thumbnails with smaller filesizes.
God I'm way too dirty and silly tonight...

| Topic: Impacts of a Satanic nature and such | Date: October 17, 2006 |
| Satan Impact is scanned and up! =D And while I was Googling for a translation for my own purposes, I realized/remembered that Andi of false | innocence has the translation and scanlation, durr. In case you're in the dark, False Innocence is the other site that my own scanlations are on, and I got the Earth Weapon and Beast is Red scans and translation texts from Andi. So surely if she has Satan Impact all translated and scanlated and such I must have seen that up there at some point, too. Actually, come to think of it, I think it's what originally gave me the idea to collaborate and get those other two scanlations put together in the first place.
At any rate, since LunarBlade Valentine did such a good job of scanlating Satan Impact for her, I probably won't go through the trouble of scanlating Satan Impact myself. I feel it would be redundant. So, if you're really itching to read it in English, hop on over to Andi's site (after I realease you from the clutches of mine, of course).
(NO, YOU MAY NOT BE RELEASED YET. NOW SIT DOWN AND ENJOY YOURSELF UNTIL I'M THROUGH WITH YOU, DAMN IT.)
Anyway...
Three other things of note:
- I picked up Japanese for Dummies and a Japanese dictionary today. Yes, after teaching myself to write and recognize the names of Vincent, Sephiroth, Lucrecia, Cloud, Tifa, and Cid in katakana, I decided to give teaching myself Japanese a whirl. I've studied two languages in high school (Latin & Italian) to the point where if I were given a Latin/Italian text, a dictionary, and a grammar book, I could translate the text if my life depended on it. They're both Romance languages, I know, and Asian languages are very different, but at least I have some basic knowledge of how languages work...and...that's a start...? Well, we'll see how it goes. It would be great if I could educate myself in Japanese to the point of being able to translate doujinshi myself, but if not, at the very least, I'll be able to watch Advent Children without subtitles. xD
- I'm planning and working on another section for Vincent's shrine: an archive of discussions and forum threads which raise interesting and thoughtful theories, analyses, and other such insightful fan speculations about Vincent, Lucrecia, Hojo, or perhaps even Sephiroth, Shelke, and/or Gast if it's relative to Vincent. It would be a big undertaking (as if trying to learn Japanese from a dictionary isn't, lolz0rz e.e; ), but I think it would be very neat to have such information collected in one place. And hey, the more creative thoughts out there about Vincent, the better. =D Especially if said thinkers happen to be artists or writers and get their creative juices pumping in Vincent-flavor.
Okay, that sounded gross. But you know what I mean.
- Speaking of art, here's an attempt at some! I'm not putting this in the fan art gallery because it isn't exactly a stand-alone piece of fan art. I'm somewhat working on what I am fondly referring to as a webcomicmangadoujinshifanficthing. You know...a fanfic that's a webcomic except it's manga so like technically it's a doujinshi but it's digital and it's on the web so it's a webcomicmangadoujinshifanficthing. (That's the official termtrust me.)
However, even as I delve into the creative medium of digital manga on the int0rnetz, I haven't quite figured out yet how I am going to present it on my website. Should I add a new gallery for webcomics? Probably not much out there. Should I stick it in with the fan art or fanfiction? Should I leave it on my personal artwork site, which is rather separated from this one now and the Vincent worshippers would have to leave his sacred shrine to view it? Layout dilemma. What is a webmistress to do?
So anyway, here's the page 1 I did Page 1. SO SHINY.
If for some reason you are interested (::glomp:: I love you ;.; ) the title "Redemption" will refer to Lucrecia's redemption. Cause like, she never got one. And while I do appreciate the artistic contrast between her outcome and Vincent's, something unsettles me about the thought of Vincent leaving his pastspecifically, Lucreciacompletely behind while she still lingers in the unpleasant state of being unable to die and being unable to live, since she lives with guilt. Well Cloud got redemption for his personal sins in AC, Vincent in DC, and Lucrecia in my webcomicmangadoujinshifanficthing, Redemption.
...assuming I..like..finish it.
- Evanescence's new CD is good. The CD as a whole is better than Call Me When You're Sober (that single they keep playing on the radio), to which I am impartial. Lyrically, it's a tad mushier, but if you liked Fallen, you'll like The Open Door, too.
|
| Topic: Some more neato observations | Date: October 16, 2006 |
| - There's a band called Bullet For My Valentine.
- Lucrecia's body in DoC and Sephiroth's body in FF7 are both encased in crystallized mako, physically unable to die, while their wills are able to go out and do different things. Coincidence...?
Okay, I know I'm taking a super long time to finish scanning Satan Impact, and it was supposed to be done for the release of this new site, but the only time I ever think of it is when I'm eating or about to eat, and I don't want to have my doujin and food out at the same time. Scanning the entire thing is going to require at least an hour or so that I will have clean hands, no food on my desk, and the time to do it. You would think that time would be the issue, but actually it's the food. xD I almost always have a snack on hand, but I am one of those awful people with a perpetually thin figure. |

| - There are two streets in Edge called "Silence Street" and "Find the Way Street." Silence branches off from Find the Way. It's on a green and white street map that flashes by the screen very quickly near the end of Marlene's monologue, just before she goes into the part about Geostigma and the children.
- Cloud said in FF7 that Sephiroth would never use a gun, but both Yazoo and Loz use guns.
- Tifa has garlic strung up behind her bar... It looks like she's trying to ward off some vampires or something. xD
